+## Purpose
+
+The `diffuser` node models and controls aeration equipment (fine/coarse bubble diffusers) in biological treatment processes. It manages:
+
+- **Oxygen transfer** rate calculations
+- **Airflow control** for dissolved oxygen setpoints
+- **Diffuser aging** and fouling compensation
+- **Integration** with reactor nodes for DO management
+
+## Configuration
